Tip of the Week
There are many products now on the market, which can give you a reading of your blood alcohol content. Some of these are so small that the unit can be put on your key chain, while others are about the size of a larger cell phone.
When purchasing a portable breath tester, make sure you buy a unit that has blood alcohol level sensor equipment approved by the Department of Transportation or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, which has a set of guidelines approved devices must follow. Remember that the highway patrol will definitely be using sensor equipment calibrated to meet DOT/NHTSA standards.
The portable breath tester can be handy, but prevention is always the best medicine. Get a designated driver or call a cab in cases where you feel unsure of your driving ability. Safe is always better than sorry.
